Hip-Hop Giant Death Row Records Releases Curated NFT Drop on Crypto.com NFT
SEVEN EXCLUSIVE NFTS AVAILABLE TOMORROW DESIGNED BY FLUX88 AND LIL BITCOIN BY TILLAVISION
FEATURES MUSIC FROM THE DOGGYSTYLE ALBUM CELEBRATING ITS 28TH ANNIVERSARY RELEASE WITH DOUBLE-VINYL REISSUE OUT TOMORROW
New York, NY (November 22, 2021) Death Row Records has collaborated with Crypto.com NFT for a curated NFT collection in celebration of the iconic label’s 30th anniversary this year. The seven exclusive NFTs are available tomorrow on Crypto.com/NFT. Each design is inspired by the groundbreaking 1993 album, Doggystyle, marking its original November 23 release with a double-vinyl reissue of the record out tomorrow.
Three of the NFTs were creatively driven by Flux88’s Partner and Creative Director, Kevin Briones. The NFT’s will include music from the Doggystyle featured on Bitcoin Inmate (“Murder Was The Case”), Ethereum Inmate (“Tha Shiznit“) and Crypto Coin (“Tha Shiznit“). Kevin brings over 20 years of industry experience in sports entertainment and live event presentation. His passion for illustration has earned him credits under Marvel and Upper Deck.
Four of the NFTs are an official collaboration with TillaVision featuring Lil Bitcoin including 10800 Gold Edition, 10800 Platinum Edition, The Boss Gold Edition and The Boss Platinum Edition designs. Each NFT includes an audiobed instrumental from “Gin N Juice,” featured on the Doggystyle album. In March, TillaVision first made headlines as the world’s first artist to debut via NFT. Lil Bitcoin would later release several NFTs, including a 50-piece “Lil Bitcoins” drop that netted over $80k in initial sales and a high-profile collaboration with King of Manhattan.
“Death Row is a West Coast hip-hop institution,” said Crypto.com Executive Vice President and Global Head of NFT Joe Conyers III. “As a fan of the music and someone who grew up in California in the ’90s, I’m excited to work with such an iconic, culture-defining label.”
Death Row Records, now owned by MNRK Music Group, was formed in 1991 and was a pioneer in changing the course of music. The hip hop label once owned and operated by Dr. Dre and Marion “Suge” Knight was instrumental in revolutionizing rap music that maintains relevance to this day. Death Row Records artists continue to remain as significant and influential as they did while making history in the 1990s. The label stands as one the most successful stories in music history with 36.5m+ albums sold worldwide plus record breaking, RIAA multi-platinum certified albums including 2Pac’s All Eyez on Me, Until the End of Time, Don Killuminati, Better Dayz, Doggstyle and The Doggfather. The Los Angeles label celebrated their 30th anniversary this year with the launch of ‘Death Row Experience’, a virtual retrospective exhibiting the story of the label’s rise and their legendary artists including 30 easter eggs, NFTs, rare collectibles and more. In addition, the label re-released the 21-track Above the Rim soundtrack alongside the HOOPS digital basketball game and SLAM co-branded limited edition merchandise.
