LOW HUM SHARES NEW SINGLE “LOSING SLEEP” EMBARKING ON EXTENSIVE CANADIAN TOUR THIS NOVEMBER

Los Angeles-based, Hawaii-raised Low Hum returns to share a dynamic new single “Losing Sleep.” Layered with electrifying rhythm guitar and distorted vocals, the standout track was the catalyst that inspired Low Hum mastermind Collin Desha to begin the creative process for his most recent album, Nonfiction. That record won critical attention from the likes of NPR Music, SPIN, American Songwriter, Buzzbands.la, Brooklyn Vegan and Spotify’s “Modern Psychedelia” playlist to name a few. While Relix praised Desha for  “carefully balancing his catchy, straightforward songs with some deliriously fun studio experimentation-making for a record that’s deceptively good. Starting next month, Low Hum will join The Blue Stones and BRKN LOVE for an extensive run of tour dates across Canada including shows at The Danforth Music Hall in Toronto and Capital Ballroom in Victoria before wrapping up in Vancouver.

Speaking on the new song, Desha shares, “It was born in a session sort of before the actual album process began and Jon [Joseph]’s drum tones, which are very present in this record, really drew me into doing my whole album with him…The song was written with Adrian Rodriguez over a few days at different houses all over Silver Lake. We dug into the struggles of insomnia and the ever persistent pressures of the ‘hustle’. When we got to the end of the album process this one felt a little outside the rest thematically… so I’m excited to put it out now for you all and get down with the tones that got me so energized for the rest of Nonfiction.”

Fans looking for a preview of the live show can check out this summer’s Live at Sunset Sound EP, which features songs from Low Hum’s full-length albums Room To Breathe and Nonfiction, shot at the historic Sunset Sound Studios with a captivating light show. The results are six live versions that capture bold new takes of some of the biggest tracks from their two albums.

Low Hum’s latest album Nonfiction, was recorded and co-produced with Jon Joseph, and expands upon Desha’s kaleidoscopic Lo-fi meets Hi-fi futurism: a mixture of oceanic tranquillity, dreampop-like sensibilities, heavy fuzzed-out riffs juxtaposed alongside melodious synth and vocals with refreshing punch.
