Today – 18th November – One of London’s most pioneering MCs, Manga Saint Hilare releases his album, ‘Run For Your Life’ on MNRK UK. Following his recent MOBO nomination for Best Grime Act, ‘Run For Your Life’ spans across seventeen tracks with guest appearances from the likes of; D Double E, Capo Lee, P Money, Ian Leone, SD9, Tre Mission, Mayhem NODB, So Large and Razor. The Woolwich-native has continuously expanded his creative eco-system despite life’s complications which he weaves into the project offering themes of; introspectiveness, self-examination, and development. Recognised as a linchpin within the Grime scene and a contributor to it’s cultural growth, Manga explores remits beyond his usual boundaries driven by a blend of avant-garde storytelling and maestro production from the likes of Boy Better Know co-founder, JMELewi B (Giggs, Kurupt FM) and more.

Run For Your Life’ is a masterclass in Manga’s story telling and it marks his fourth annual project to date to encapsulate another stage of his life. Beginning the creative process with the title, he began hand selecting beats from tastemaker producers such as; JME, Lewi BSnowy, Lupole, Freeza Chin, Blay Vision (Skepta, Frisco) and more. Manga re-announced himself for 2022 with ‘Maybe Not’ with Jelani Blackman –  which later featured on FIFA 23’s soundtrack and Soccer AM – before lead singles, ‘U Run It’ with Brazilian MC, SD9 and ‘Kendall and Kylie’. Offering a huge scope of creative depth, ‘Run For Your Life’ displays his storytelling potential before showcasing his own production qualities on ‘All My Sins’. Standout track, ‘Together’ featuring Grime legend, D Double E is “a reminder that we are better as a unit” pieced together with ethereal production from JME. Powered by a forthcoming satire video set in a decorated photo studio, ‘This Isn’t About Me’ perfectly captures the sonic aims and ambitions of the project. Additional collaborations come from; Ian Leone, Tre Mission, Mayhem NODB, So Large and Razor.

“”Run For Your Life is a reminder to keep moving because forward is the only way to survive. Run towards your goals, move on from things that are holding you back! I hope it can help people remind themselves of who they are and who they can become.”

Manga rose to the top and sharpened his tools alongside the likes of Wiley and DJ Target in the formidable Grime collective, Roll Deep who broke onto the scene in 2004 before ceasing, circa 2011. His solo re-emergence came with a new identity; Manga Saint Hilare, who had a new musical outlook and freedom to address topics such as; mental health, self-turmoil, well-being, and how young men treat women. Avoiding any boundaries, Manga’s artistry quickly reflected his capability to have direct conversations with his listeners through his versatile combination of humour, purpose, and his own tribulations. His highly regarded ‘Make it Out Alive’ project earned him a nomination for ‘Best Grime Act 2020’ by the prestigious MOBO Awards and ultimately reminded him that he was on the radar on such a large scale. Manga takes pride in creating his own artwork, merchandise and single-handedly growing his name as an independent musician in 2022 as he continues to push his limit in life.
