R&B/Pop Singer & Songwriter Adanna Duru Releases New Single “if i was a boy ;)” Today

(October 6, 2023) Afropop singer/songwriter Adanna Duru releases a brand new single, “if i was a boy 😉” today. Produced by Khris Riddick Tynes (“Snooze” by SZA) & Rob Bisel (produced “Kill Bill” by SZA), the humorous yet biting lyrics describe how men let their women down and never have to answer for their bad behavior. The producers encouraged her to lean into her quirky/fun online persona on this track. Inspired by Beyonce’s “If I Were a Boy” and Ciara’s “Like a Boy,” Adanna wanted to create a song about what women commonly go through in relationships.
About the single, Adanna says, “This song is about letting out all those feelings of being mistreated or being taken for granted by men in my life. I wanted to make a song that was super fun and spoke to feelings that all women go through in relationships (wanting to treat men the way they treat us).”
“if i was a boy ;)” is the first single from Adanna’s forthcoming EP, NAPPY HOUR II, which is due out on December 1, 2023. Adanna will celebrate her forthcoming EP release with two headlining shows: November 12th at The Moroccan Lounge in LA and November 18th at The Mercury Lounge in NYC.
This EP is the follow-up to her previously released EP, NAPPY HOUR (March 2023), which has garnered over 28M streams across all digital platforms, with the single “Pop,” earning 8M streams globally to date. Adanna has amassed a large fanbase on social media due to her unique and hilarious content, gaining 1.5M new followers on TikTok in 2023 alone. She received co-signs on that platform from Timbaland, Ayrra Star, Bas, Alicia Keys, Ed Sheeran, among others.
