A Stripped-Down, Emotionally Charged Live Album
“They don’t make guys like Ward Davis on today’s Music Row.” – American Songwriter
“Ward Davis is a top-notch performer and songwriter.” – Whiskey Riff
(May 30, 2025) Acclaimed country singer/songwriter Ward Davis releases a new, live album, The Bordello Sessions, today. The 11-track collection features raw, intimate versions of fan-favorite songs from Davis’s catalog, a few covers (“Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue,” “If Hollywood Don’t Need You (Honey I Still Do)) and two powerful new originals: “Need To Be Still” and “To Tear Myself Apart.” The album was recorded in a stripped-down setting at Blue Heaven in Key West, FL. Familiarly known as The Bordello for its storied history, the venue was also a favorite drinking spot of one of Davis’ favorite writers, Ernest Hemingway. The Bordello Sessions showcases Davis’s unmistakable voice and deeply personal storytelling—hallmarks of a career built on authenticity and grit. This release marks Davis’s debut project with MNRK and offers a glimpse of what’s to come, with a new studio album slated for early 2026.
Davis says, “I was running from rock bottom when I recorded this album. A little over a year sober, I’d started to realize the mess the drunk me had made of my life, and I ran away down there to escape it. I can see now, as I watch it and as I listen, I didn’t escape anything. I just put my misery on display, thinking the guitar and microphone might hide it, or let it be seen as something else. And you might see something else, and you might hear something else. But I won’t. And I ain’t listening to it ever again.”
Davis has carved out a name for himself not only as a solo artist but as a gifted writer for some of country music’s most revered artists. His songwriting credits include work for Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Cody Jinks, Trace Adkins, Wade Hayes, Sammy Kershaw, and more.
With The Bordello Sessions, Davis continues to solidify his reputation as one of country music’s most honest and compelling voices.
